Discover Tel Aviv through a free walk with a Local

Arriving in the cosmopolitan city of Tel Aviv will satisfy every traveler. This buzzing seaside city has an amazing mixture of history and contemporary lines, providing a feeling of old and new. Wander through the ancient labyrinthine stone alleys that comprise Jaffa Port, one of the most exciting and mesmerizing attractions, or relax on the picturesque Mediterranean beaches and soak up some sun and atmosphere.

To really experience Tel Aviv like a native, consider taking a free walking tour with a Greeter. While you may be tempted to travel on the beaten paths, there are many hidden sights to be seen, that can best be accessed with local citizens who know everything about their city. The best way to discover all that Tel Aviv has to offer is to sign up for the services of the Tel Aviv Greeters before you arrive, free local guides who will take you around the city and answer any questions that you may have.

A walk in Tel Aviv just for you and completely free of charge
During an individual walk just for you, your friends or family (a maximum party of 6) -we call them Greets- , a volunteer of Tel Aviv Greeters will show you their city as they would a friend. They love to show their city to visitors and enjoy meeting people from all over the world. There is no tipping involved and no large groups. Your walk will be tailored specifically to you and your interests.

Remember: A Greet means meeting a local resident to walk around town with you as new friends. The first step will be to talk to the Greeter about the details of your personalized tour. It's not about taking part in a standardized tour, but about exploring the city with an expert volunteer .

Maximum six people!

Our core value #2 reads "Greeters welcome individuals and may serve small groups of up to six people."
The reason is that each Greet should be an opportunity to talk to each other and that seems impossible in bigger groups.
Also important: we do not mingle people from different requests but serve only you (and your friends).

Tel Aviv Greeters have undertaken to comply with the IGA Core Values.

Meet a local volunteer

Our core value #1  reads "Greeters are volunteers, a friendly face for those visiting a city."
It's true: Our Greeters love their city or town and they are proud to share this with guests.
How could you better discover the most interesting spots of a place?

Free service, no tipping

Our core value #3 reads "Meeting a Greeter is free of charge."
We do not follow a "give what you think is ok (but please give)" strategy. Greeters honestly do not like any tipping because what they give comes from their heart not because of any tipping expectation.
If you would like to support the Greeters as a whole you are welcome to donate to the International Greeter Association here.

My greeter took me for a walk in the Carmel Market and Nahalat Binyamin – where there was a beautiful crafts market. As we walked we talked a lot what it’s like living in Tel Aviv. I had the most amazing time with her. Thank you Tel Aviv Greeter for your wonderful service!

The greeter concept is great! Our greeter took us for a walk on the promenade and then to Neve Tzedek. We heard so many stories and learned a lot about Tel Aviv. She also gave us lots of practical information which was very useful for our stay in the city.
