Seattle Greeters
Free Walk with a Local
Discover Seattle through a free walk with a Local
Seattle, known as the Emerald City, is a vibrant city celebrated for its innovation, culture, and natural beauty. It’s the birthplace of giants like Starbucks, Amazon, Boeing, and Microsoft. Nestled between Puget Sound and Lake Washington, with Mt. Rainier in the distance, Seattle offers diverse neighbourhoods, the famous Pike Place Market, and the iconic Space Needle. It’s a hub for music, from jazz to grunge, and renowned for its coffee culture and craft breweries.
With an expansive ferry system and stunning waterfront views, Seattle seamlessly blends urban sophistication with breathtaking natural surroundings, making it a unique destination. Discover the highlights off the beaten track with a Seattle Greeter. A volunteer will show you the city from a local’s perspective, beyond the contents of guidebooks.

Remember: A Greet means meeting a local resident to walk around town with you as new friends. The first step will be to talk to the Greeter about the details of your personalized tour. It's not about taking part in a standardized tour, but about exploring the city with an expert volunteer .
Maximum six people!
Our core value #2 reads "Greeters welcome individuals and may serve small groups of up to six people."
The reason is that each Greet should be an opportunity to talk to each other and that seems impossible in bigger groups.
Also important: we do not mingle people from different requests but serve only you (and your friends).
Meet a local volunteer
Our core value #1 reads "Greeters are volunteers, a friendly face for those visiting a city."
It's true: Our Greeters love their city or town and they are proud to share this with guests.
How could you better discover the most interesting spots of a place?
Free service, no tipping
Our core value #3 reads "Meeting a Greeter is free of charge."
We do not follow a "give what you think is ok (but please give)" strategy. Greeters honestly do not like any tipping because what they give comes from their heart not because of any tipping expectation.
If you would like to support the Greeters as a whole you are welcome to donate to the International Greeter Association here.

He explained various places around Seattle from the spot with the best view of the city, and it was amazing. Before the tour, he sent me a file with detailed travel information about Seattle, which was incredibly helpful. Even now, I sometimes look through the file he gave me and plan trips based on the routes he recommended. I’m really grateful.
We had the pleasure of discovering Seattle through the eyes of Gladys as part of the Greeters program, and what a great experience it was!
Gladys took the time to warmly welcome us and show us around the heart of the city, from iconic landmarks to less known places or shops. She shared stories about Seattle’s history and evolution, and made us feel truly connected to the city.
Her kindness, enthusiasm, and genuine love for Seattle were contagious. She tailored the visit to our interests, making it personal and engaging — from strolling through Pike Place Market to exploring downtown highlights.
We are deeply grateful for her generosity, knowledge, and vibrant spirit. It was more than a tour — it felt like a walk with a local friend.
The Greeters program is a fantastic initiative, and Gladys is the perfect ambassador for it.
