Doha Greeters
Free Personal Walking Tour with a Local
Discover Doha through a free personal walk with a local
Doha was founded in 1850 and was first called Al Bida. In 1883, Sheikh Kassim’s battle against the Turkish army took place here. In 1916, the city became the capital of the British protectorate of Qatar, and it was not until 1971 that Doha received its present name and became the capital of an independent state. Doha is known for its modern architecture, high-rise buildings, and luxurious shopping malls. The Country Qatar was described as a famous horse and camel breeding centre during the Umayyad period. In the 8th century, it started benefiting from its commercially strategic position in the Persian Gulf and went on to become a centre of pearl trading. Take a chance and visit this warm embracing city with a Greeter!

What our guests say
Our Greeter in Doha was very patient despite our tardiness, her welcome was wonderful, the tour excellent and you can clearly sense that she cares about showcasing every facet of her town.
Thank you, Doha Greeters, it is so great to be welcomed like friends, to see a place with the eyes of a local, have a chat in a tiny café and - eventually - leave as a friend.
