Sydney has plenty to offer with its beautiful harbour and lively atmosphere. One of the best ways to really get a feel for the city is by experiencing it away from the tourist trail. Why not join one of our Sydney Greeters who can show you around their city? You‘ll go on your own personalised walk with a local exploring backstreets and learning more about life in Sydney than you would from a tourist guidebook. Whatever your interests – top restaurants or cheap-eats in hidden laneways, a walk of discovery in the picturesque Royal Botanic Garden or stunning views of the harbour from surrounding suburbs – our volunteers can help. A Sydney Greeter will offer pointers on where to go, how to get there, fascinating and unique history, award winning architecture and at the same time share amusing anecdotes about the city that only a Sydney-sider would know. You have heard about the friendliness of Australians – it’s all true! You will have a warm welcome waiting for you when you arrive.

N'oubliez pas : un Greet consiste à rencontrer un habitant de la ville qui vous accompagnera dans vos visites en tant que nouvel ami. La première étape consiste à discuter avec le Greeter des détails de votre visite personnalisée. Il ne s'agit pas de participer à une visite standardisée, mais d'explorer la ville avec un bénévole expert.
Six personnes maximum
Notre valeur fondamentale n° 2 reads "Les Greeters accueillent des individuels et des groupes jusqu’à 6 personnes."
La raison en est que chaque salutation devrait être l'occasion de se parler et cela semble impossible dans des groupes plus grandes.
Autre point important : nous ne mélangeons pas les personnes de différentes demandes mais nous ne servons que vous (et vos amis).
Rencontrez un bénévole local
Notre valeur fondamentale n° 1 reads "Les Greeters sont bénévoles, ils sont un visage accueillant pour le(s) visiteur(s)".
C'est vrai : nos Greeters aiment leur ville ou leur village et ils sont fiers de le partager avec les visiteurs.

Service gratuit, pas de pourboire
Notre valeur fondamentale n° 3 reads "La rencontre avec un Greeter est entièrement gratuite."
Nous ne suivons pas une stratégie du type "donnez ce que vous pensez être correct (mais donnez s'il vous plaît)". Les Greeters n'aiment honnêtement pas les pourboires car ce qu'ils donnent vient du cœur et non d'une quelconque attente de pourboire.

Karen was top notch fantastic!!!! We would have never found the things she showed us or known the significance of the things we seen if it wasn’t for her. She made our trip! She found things that interested us and focussed on those things as well as her regular tour. She even went out of her way to meet us at our hotel. We are so appreciative for her time, energy and thoughtfulness!!!!
Our Greeter, Lyn, was prompt and very friendly on arrival. We’ve used greeters in other Countries, and you just never quite know how the day will go; you could get a History buff who talks until your eyes glaze over or you’d like to put an ice pick in your ear, or you might possibly get that one Greeter that is very rigid with their schedule and everything must move along at a precise time, but our day with Lynn was a lovely combination of information and ease, history and hilarity!
